“We will all profit from a more diverse, inclusive society, understanding, accommodating, even celebrating our differences, while pulling together for the common good.”

How my journey began

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the States of MI, DE, PA and FL with thirteen years of experience.

I have had the honor to serve my community for over thirteen years. My path to becoming a counselor began with my work in foster care, where I saw the resilience of children facing trauma. We would receive children into the program I worked for who had been living on the street and didn’t have a home. I learned the power of a deck of cards, crayons, going for a walk and showing compassion on healing others and I wanted to keep going so I continued my graduate studies.

Upon graduation, I began working for adults and children with physical and mental disabilities at my local community mental health center. I entered people's homes at a time where they had been turned away for services by everyone else. I began working with those who didn’t have transportation or were completely homebound due to mental illness. This reinforced my belief in the power and strength of authentic, human connection and accessible mental health services. With each client I met, my desire to offer hope and guidance grew stronger.

Beginning in 2017, I decided that I wanted to shift my focus to sharing my passion for Counseling and Psychology with future students and eventual colleagues. With  nothing but a Psychology book in my hand and an excitement for sharing information about mental health, I entered into the college sphere as an Adjunct Professor. Upon entering, I learned that being a professor is not just about teaching but also about helping students navigate academic and personal pressures. I have made it my mission to assist professors in navigating this space through designing and presenting material on “How to Recognize Students in Distress.” I have also helped provide training to Resident Assistants regarding body image, bullying, and helping assist other students with accessing mental health care.

In private practice, I provided tailored counseling, including play therapy for children, support for teens and couples, and assistance in navigating retirement for adults. I designed and presented courses for management training for local businesses including conflict resolution, communication in the workplace, as well as transformative leadership classes. I provided suicide awareness training to our local high school and advocated for our local school system to include the National Suicide Hotline on the back of student ID cards and was successful. The COVID-19 pandemic introduced me to telehealth, demonstrating that empathy and effective counseling can transcend physical boundaries.

These experiences have shaped my commitment to offering compassionate, comprehensive care. Today, I am dedicated to empowering my clients, helping them uncover their strengths, and supporting their journey to healing and growth.
